PUBLIC RELATIONS (1 semester)
TECEP PREP

Public Relations Thought and Practice TECEP - Exam description, outline, and sample questions.

PRIMARY SOURCES:

On-line Readings in Public Relations
Practice of Public Relations companion site to textbook, can be stand-alone.
Effective Public Relations - additional textbook companion website
Public Relations: Strategies and Tactics- third textbook companion website

ADDITIONAL RESOURCES:

Basics of Public Relations
Writing for Public Relations - iTunes Podcasts. (Please note: You will need the free iTunes software to access these lectures.)
The Museum of Public Relations
Introduction to Public Relations flashcards

PROJECT:

Read The Tylenol Murders Case Study for an example of how a major corporation handled a serious public relations case. Next read about the Exxon Valdez oil spill. Write a compare and contrast paper regarding these two events, from a public relations stand point. (See the English page for more information about compare and contrast essays, if needed.) Research both these events further for more information as you write your paper.

Recommended Course of Study:

Print a copy of the exam outline/description for your study journal. Read over the information provided by the On-line Readings wesbite, making notes in your journal. Explore the links on the textbook companion websites. (Be sure to work through the multiple choice and true/false sections, as these will provide good test practice.) Additional resources are supplied for further study. Finish the course with the Project paper. The TECEP test can serve as a final exam, or a course grade can be determined based on scores received for the companion websites' activities and the mark awarded the essay paper.
