Emergency - Get Started Courses
Because of the number of inquiries I receive from parents looking for courses they can begin immediately with a student pulled from a public school system, with little or no time to research and prepare for homeschooling, I have put together this page as one a student can start at any time without a lot of prep work. The courses listed below are all free and only require internet access, plus paper and pens/pencils for note-taking when needed, with the exception of the ALEKS math courses. ALEKS is normally $20 per month. However, you can request a free two-month trial for homeschoolers at this link. (This works for multiple students in the same family.) It may take a day or so for ALEKS to approve your request. Meanwhile, if you need to start working on math today, you can choose one of the free courses found here or this course in Statistics.
Please note, while it is legal to homeschool in all 50 states, each state has different laws governing homeschool accountability. Make certain you know and understand the laws for your state. Students can work on the following courses, in order to meet any necessary, immediate accountability requirements for their state, allowing time to then thoroughly research homeschooling and better design a long-term plan.
To begin, simply visit the websites listed below and start the lessons. You may want to set a schedule of completing one lesson or module per subject, per day, or set a time schedule of 45 - 60 minutes per class.
Optional, but recommended: Take a day or two to complete these study skills courses first.
