EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT
1 Semester/College Credit The following free courses are all offered through FEMA and the Emergency Management Institute. Each course has online or downloadable study information and an exam, and is worth one-half or one full credit hour. Students who pass the exams are issued certificates for their records. Each course can take as little as one day to complete. These courses can be turned into college credits in the following ways: Students enrolled at Thomas Edison State College receive up to 25 elective credit hours. (This is up to 25 college credits for free.) |
Charter Oak State College also accepts FEMA credits for free. How many you can use will depend on your degree. Note that for both TESC and COSC, FEMA credits are free electives and cannot be used as part of general education or liberal arts requirements. (The exception to this is the TESC Homeland Security and Emergency Management degree.)
Another option is to use Clackamus Community College to earn credits (at $30 per class, not per credit). This is not necessary when using these credits for TESC or COSC. For any other school, confirm with the school first that they will accept these courses before you pay Clackamus to transcribe them.
